Nightshifted is the debut novel for author Cassie Alexander and is the first in a trilogy focusing on her main character, Edie Spence. Edie is a nurse who’s still known as “new girl” on a hidden hospital floor called “Y4”. Y4 isn’t for your average patient; it’s full of vampires, shape-shifters, werewolves, zombies and other strange beings. During the majority of the audiobook, Edie’s life was in danger. The story is very fast paced and packed with great characters.

I won’t move much further into the story, because that gives away more than I want you to know. If you haven’t listened to The Hunger Games, now is the time. The movie based on the book is set to release into theaters on March 23, 2012 with an awesome cast.

I’m personally not a fan of vampire movies, vampire books or teenage vampire impersonators. Especially the kind that sparkle. This title intrigued me and the cover art led me to believe there was a hint of romance buried in the obvious vampire mystery.
