My Review: I can’t seem to say enough wonderful things about Janet Evanovich. She kept the excitement coming with High Five. Stephanie’s Mom and Grandma Mazur ask Stephanie for her help in finding Uncle Fred after he disappears. Uncle Fred is a cheapskate, but Stephanie is sure he’s not a crook. The family dynamics are great and Grandma Mazur always makes me laugh. I’d love to say more about this book, but sadly I can’t. The unabridged version isn’t available for download so I suffered through the abridged version. More of my suffering will be discussed below in the narrator review.

Narrator Review: I’ve delayed writing this for two days thinking I might calm myself down a bit but I haven’t. I’ve been a faithful Audible downloader since my brother got me into audiobooks and they’ve always had a great selection. Now, I’m got myself enthralled with this amazing Stephanie Plum series and I’m stuck listening to this hot mess that Debi Mazar read. And yes, I’m talking about my beloved Evanovich. I hold nothing against her, instead I’m taking my aggravation out on Mazar. I swear, this audiobook should be double the length, even though it is abridged. She was speed reading!

You remember when you were in high school and you’d have to read some dreadful book about some dead guy? I do, and I would speed read through, grabbing the high points and moving on. That’s exactly how Mazar narrates this book. She hardly took a breath between sentences and didn’t bother changing her tone for various characters. To say the least, I was extremely annoyed the entire time.

As to the next audiobook in the series, Hot Six, I will be downloading it and listening. But I won’t be happy about it since Mazar’s abridged version is the only available download at audible. I can’t stand to miss anything… even if it’s abridged.

Download the hot mess here… High Five by Janet Evanovich (Abridged).
